“And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.”
James 5:15-16 (NLT)

Dear Lord,
You know my friend so much better than I do. You know her sickness and her need. You also know her heart. Lord, I ask you to be with my friend now, working in her life. Let Your will be done in my friend's life. If there is a sin that needs to be confessed and forgiven, Lord, please help her to see her need and confess. Lord, I pray for my friend because Your Word says I should pray for Her healing. I believe You hear this earnest prayer from my heart and that it is powerful because of Your promise. I have faith in You to heal my friend, but I also trust in the plan you have for my friend's life. Lord, I don't always understand Your ways, and why my friend has to suffer, but I trust You now. May You be glorified in my friend's life and also in mine.
Amen

We are praying for you

Dear Maureen,

I was pretty shocked when I first heard the news about your illness. I am truly sorry and want you to know that I have been praying for you constantly and am thinking of you a lot even in the midst of a distracted and busy time. Please do know I care, so does God, too. At times we may encounter hardships that have come in our lives but knowing God's prefect peace and His love for us, we will have an inner peace in our hearts through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Whenever I face some difficult times, I would remember some of these verses especially about peace and mind of Christ ~~~~

Isaiah 26:3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee"

Philippians 2:5 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:"

Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus"

If you ever wish to contact me, I will be always here for you. Just either email me or call me via VP anytime. Ask Jackie for my VP#

God is in control of his children according to his purposes. We always find joy through the sufferings. It helps us to comfort others in time of needs.
You encourage us as we, people, encourage you. It is love that helps us to go on one day at a time with a positive outlook. We are in unknown future to God's known future. Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love,
It cannot shatter hope,
It cannot corrode faith,
It cannot destroy peace.
It cannot kill friendship,
It cannot suppress memories,
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul,
It cannot steal eternal life, and
It cannot conquer the spirit.

Hi Maureen,
My husband and I had dinner with Dave and Diana last night. They love you so much. Di had a button with your picture pinned on her shirt and a big poster in their front yard with your picture showing everyone how much they love and support you. She gave me a plastic card with your picture to take home. I put it on the shelf above my kitchen sink next to flowers and candles and each time I look at you it reminds me to say a little prayer. I'm at my kitchen sink a lot so you're getting lots of prayers! My husband's sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer the beginning of this year. It had spread throughout her entire abdomen and one Dr. gave her only a 5% chance of making it. She went through 2 surgeries and chemo and is now feeling great and went back to work in July so never give up because nobody knows anything for sure except God. I hope it's helped your spirits having your parents with you. Stay strong and keep the faith!

So sorry to hear about your illness. We want you to know that we are constantly thinking about you and keeping you in our prayers every day.
I agree with the others, I also have many good memories of our days and years at MKSD, our years from Nursery to High School. I, also, remember your sweet, sweet SMILE. All these memories I will never forget!
Maureen, it is very important for you to put the Lord first in your life each day. The doctors can treat you but only the Lord can heal you. He will give you the help and the strength you will need and guide you through this battle you are facing. Put the Lord first in your life each day, this is very important. Lean on Him. He is real. He is always by your side, you will never regret it!

With the support of all of the loved ones in your life (some who you haven't even met...like me!) you will never be alone, and you will find strength. I have been praying for you everyday...and I know you will be victorious. My heart is with you...Sincerely, Joan Merritt

Hi Maureen,

While I was talking to Maria Campbell, I mentioned that I'm working at UCSD Cancer Center as Deaf Community Cancer Education. She mentioned of your name so of course I knew you from Gallaudet Class of 1981 and asked for your blog website. I was hoping to see you at the 25th class reunion but I understand it was not a good time. You were in our thoughts of the '81 girlfriends! My program has ASL cancer education videos (breast, prostate, cervical, colon and few others) with open caption and voiceover. Please let me know if you like me to send you a video of Breast Cancer Education in ASL.

Best Wishes to you,
Patricia Branz

Hey Maureen...

I heard that you have breast cancer... I will keep your thought and prayer with you!

YOU can fight and win! Just like my mom because she is breast cancer survivor... she had breast cancer in Sept. 1989.

Maureen, This is Steve Sandy, Class of 1981. Sharon Rutherford tells me you have a battle that is invading in your body. Each battle can be fought against and win. You may not know me bit I used to live in Spain and many know of me with my involvement in Dummy Hoy efforts. I have worked on that since 1989 and haven't given up, so you shouldn't give up as well. Lets Hasta la Vista the cancer!

Dear Maureen,

As I was told about your condition, I am at loss of how to write to you. Ever since I enrolled MKSD and Gally, you are always a special person, very caring and a good listener. I have never see you criticizing anyone. You are a special person and a rare bird. When I learned about your condition, my first thought was your precious children and husband that are struggling with this as well as you are struggling to spend as much time as you can with your children and your husband. As well as your two sisters and parents. I can identify with all this as you know, my mom had cancer and passed away when she was 47. I remembered you came to me and gave me your words. It was in 1980. I want to thank you for your kindness and your sweet personality.

My thoughts are with you and your family. May peace be with you.

All my heart and love,

Michael Kaufer

Maureen Hynes has one of the most precious hearts I know of, she makes me think so much of my mother that I lost to cancer way to soon in her young life. She too fought the good fight of faith, it was a long hard battle. My heart aches for Maureen’s children I know the anguish they feel seeing their mother go through this. Just a side note, I felt like I had been touched by an angel after hearing her speak. God bless her and her family. They are in my prayers.

I read of a man who stood to speak, at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on this tombstone from beginning ….to the end.

He noted that the first came his date of birth and spoke the following with tears. But he said what mattered most of all, was the dash in between those years.

For the dash represents, all the time he spent alive on earth. And how only those who loved him know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own; the cars, the house, the cash, what matters most is how we live and love and how we spend our dash…
So think about this long and hard. Are there things you’d like to change?

For you never know how much time is left, that can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough, to consider what is true and real. And always try to understand, the way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more, and love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile… Remembering that this special dash might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy is being read, with your life’s actions to rehash would you be proud of the things they say and how your spent your dash?

by Linda Ellis

Would you like to improve the way you are spending your dash?

Again, you were eventually with God during my final exam week. Now, you have the greatest life with God enternally. I admire your wonderful smile to please me.

On behalf of the Farnady Family we were shocked to hear the news of our dear friend Maureen from her sister Lucinda last December 12, 2007. We just learned about this blogspot and wanted to share our thoughts with you (Maureen in her spirit somehwere), Jim, Elizbeth, Jeb, relatives and friends. We are saddened that Maureen was died of breast cancer last May 22, 2007 but have a strong feeling that she has been at peace (free of suffering) and her "aura" of smile will forever remain in our memories. We definitely miss her! Jim ... God Bless you and your family.
